The weekend. You’ve worked hard for it. We get it. But, man oh man, nutrition can really get off track if we’re not careful.
Here are some simple tips to help you navigate Friday through Sunday a little better! (And still have some fun!)
- Include some fat. Eating moderate amounts of fat at a meal will help you feel full longer and give you energy. (Just be aware of serving sizes.)
- Don’t skip meals. Skipping meals leads to hunger, low energy levels and bad food choices. (Have some healthy snacks with you if you are out and about for most of the day.)
- Don’t deprive yourself of your favorite foods. Enjoy them. Just try eating until you are about 80% full.
- Eat something light before you go to dinner or an event. (Make sure you don’t go hungry!)
- Drink plenty of water.
And the one thing that I think can be the most helpful — PLAN AHEAD! Yes..plan for the dessert, plan for the drinks, plan for the day out. Know where you’ll be and what you’re gonna eat. Plan for the healthy and plan for the splurge. You’ll be surprised at the difference a little planning can make!
