What separates your experience at Dragonfly from other gyms you've tried in the past? The things that separate Dragonfly from other gyms I've tried is the expertise of the trainers, the community of class members and the accountability. The trainers all are so knowledgeable and caring about us achieving the best workouts and are continuously striving to improve and innovate what we are doing. I love talking to my other friends who work out on their own and sharing the cool new ways we are working muscle groups or putting exercises together. It is also great coming to classes and seeing familiar faces. When it comes to figuring out new moves or getting help with weights there is always someone willing to help. The structure of the classes helps with accountability. When I started I hated that I couldn't transfer a class to the next day easily and be more "flexible," but really that structure of going to the classes I have committed to the day before holds me accountable to show up no matter how much I don't want to go because I don't want to lose my class. The gyms entire energy and vibe is what makes me push through the hard 1st week workouts and come back next time.
What is something that used to be intimidating, but now you love it and/or how might you encourage others that might be nervous? I was scared to lift heavy and do traditional gym lifts like deadlift, bench press etc. They are always things that I saw others (men) in the big box gyms doing, but I was too intimidated to go over and try. But with the support and training at Dragonfly, I truly love doing the more strengthy strength lifts. It makes me feel really freaking strong to pick up heavy things and empowered.
We love when y'all celebrate & share your accomplishments - big & small, inside & outside the gym. Share with us something that you are proud of from the past few weeks or months. Don't be shy! I have been consistently working out 2x a week for a year now! I started outside of Dragonfly with a personal trainer, but have found that Dragonfly is my long-term plan. I am so grateful to have found my gym home. It's been a big year in general so in the past 6 months I have purchased a house, got engaged and got an amazing new job. The new job is the most recent accomplishment, It is HR in a non-profit and that has been a career goal of mine for many years now.
