Member Spotlight: Barb's passion for helping pets & people

We LOVE sharing more about our members...not just what they do inside the gym, but what they do outside of the gym! Back in April I had the pleasure of visiting Barb at work and got to learn all about her business, and her non-profit that helps pets and people!

Our non-profit is Papin Support Facility which stands for Pets and People In Need.  We organized in 2012 when we identified so many resources (i.e., animal feed and supplies) going to waste.  We work to reallocate those resources to the pets and their people who need assistance. In some cases it keeps them from having to surrender their pet because they can no longer afford to feed them.

We have developed relationships with companies such as Purina, Blue Buffalo, Chewy, and Amazon. From them we receive feed and supplies that may be short-dated and cannot be sold in the general market. Our mission is to make sure it is distributed to those in need which ranges from shelters like CARE STL, underserved areas in rural Missouri and Illinois, and individuals who can prove their need.

The only way this is possible is the use of our warehouse, trucks, equipment, and man power from our business Urban Feed and Supply. Thankfully my husband, Tom, and our son, Thomas, share the same passion for animals and are willing to help.

Barb takes her dogs and foster dogs to work every day and that was one of my favorite things about visiting. :)

My work day is spent at the warehouse coordinating loads in and out and gobs of paperwork! It’s often very physical, but Dragonfly keeps me strong and I love it! The best part of my day is meeting the people who come to the warehouse to show off their fur babies.  I have the most satisfying job and it fills my heart with joy.

Thank you Barb for letting me visit and for sharing more about your non-profit! And, as always, it's very inspiring to see someone do something they love!
