We have so many amazing women in our community, and while we wish it were otherwise, sometimes people have to “graduate” from Dragonfly for one reason or another. One such amazing woman is Kathy, who we reached out to, to find out what she’s been up to lately…
Kathy was a member at Dragonfly from 2013-2019 and also did some virtual training with us in 2020 during the COVID lockdown. When we asked her what she loved about being a member at Dragonfly, she said, “I found this question to be the most challenging to answer. It's not challenging because I don't have an answer, it's challenging because I have too many answers.” 😅
She went on to say that, “Dragonfly taught me how to move strategically and with intention. I also met some of my favorite humans there... friendships for life! There's something magical and powerful about bringing women together to do things that for decades, people said we couldn't do. Dragonfly provides so much support and encouragement.”
She also said that the training she received from our coaches has stayed with her, even though it’s been a few years since she’s been a member at Dragonfly. Phrases like: “Remember to breath, be sure your back is all the way to the floor, bring your elbows in for a push-up, modify but keep moving, focus on healthy and strong, not shape and size,” have been lasting messages for her and Kathy said, “they continue to help me live my best life...for realz. I'll always be grateful for the time I had there, and the people I met.”
Kathy is living her best life in Montana working at her dream job at Montana State University Billings as the Director of Assessment and Accreditation. She’s also the Chair of the Employee Wellness committee on campus. “That's an opportunity that came my way as we started to come out of COVID...and I'm loving it,” she said. “The committee has worked to establish wellness programming for our employees.”

She’s married to her husband, Zack and they have a dog named Belle. Her hobbies include hiking, snowshoeing, cycling, yoga, gardening, traveling, reading, baking, dancing, walking, and more! She’s traveled to some amazing places since she left Dragonfly, including New Zealand and Norway, but she says, “Montana continues to feed my soul.”
Kathy says she’s right where she wants to be in her fitness journey: healthy and strong, a perspective she gained from Dragonfly. She said, “I'm able to live the active lifestyle that keeps me physically and mentally balanced, happy and strong.” She recently joined a group called, “Women Who Explore Montana,” which has helped her connect to like-minded women, and keep her safe on her adventures. “While I enjoy solitude in the wilderness, grizzly bears make that less safe to do...so it's been nice to connect with other active women.”
We’re so happy to hear that Kathy is thriving! She said, “I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge how my time and experiences at Dragonfly have helped me to thrive.”
