Our coaches agree – Alyson is committed, encouraging, and always remembers to bring her smile with her to class! She challenges herself to be the very best she can be, and doesn’t let anything get in her way. She asks thoughtful questions and engages with other members, encouraging them to challenge themselves as well.
We’re thankful for Alyson’s work ethic, and are thrilled she’s a part of our community!
We asked Alyson a bit about her training experience at Dragonfly, and here’s what she said:
How long have you been strength training?
I really only started strength training about a year and a half ago when I joined Dragonfly. I dabbled in using my husband’s free weights for a few years, but never stuck with it consistently until the Dragonfly programming came into my life.
What’s your favorite exercise or equipment to use?
This is a tough one! My favorite exercise is a prowler push (the heavier the better). I also love any movement that involves a barbell. Nothing makes me feel stronger than pressing a heavy barbell over my head.
What has been your most memorable personal record or accomplishment so far?
My most memorable personal record is hitting a 205 deadlift for 3 reps during the PR Challenge.
What would you say to other ladies who might be nervous to start strength training?
Strength training may look intimidating, but it’s such a natural way to move and appreciate our bodies. Once you dive in, the confidence and fierceness you find crushes all of those nerves. Plus it feels really amazing when friends say, “Can you help me with this? You’re really strong.”
Bonus! What’s your favorite type of music or specific songs to work out to?
I love working out to early 90’s rock, such as Alice in Chains or Soundgarden. The heavy guitars make me want to lift heavy things!
