My sincere thanks for clicking through. This is a straight-from-the-heart project.
Last May my sweet Oreo passed away. He was 16 years old and we had him for two years. If we know one another then you know I love animals, and I swear that dog impacted me in ways I never expected. One thing led to another and here we are…
I’ve always had a desire to make a difference through fitness, and Dragonfly is obviously a big part of that. The opportunity to expand and make more of a difference has presented itself and so – let me introduce Black Dog Fitness. Part kettlebell gym, part charitable endeavor. Black Dog will be in the space immediately next door to Dragonfly.
Black Dog Fitness is being created to help men and women of all fitness levels get superhero strong with kettlebells. This is our main focus. And while we’re doing that we’re going to be very intentional about using our resources to support rescue animals, military service members and youth at risk of being bullied.
- Rescue animals. Of course. Right at the heart of Black Dog are rescue animals. We will not only spread the word about pet adoption (especially senior and special needs dogs), we will also donate 100% of profits to local animal rescues.
- Military service members. Current and former U.S. Military service members suffering with PTSD and physical disabilities will be welcome to train with us at no charge. We’ll be working through various organizations to set this effort up.
- Youth, ages 10 – 13, who may be at risk of being bullied. We will be working with an organization to develop a program to help build confidence and strength.
I’m reminded quite often of what motivates me and what makes it all worth it. This is just something I was drawn to do.
There’s still a lot of work to be done and as I’ve learned, things will change…as needed…as we go.
Thank you to everyone who has offered help, words of encouragement or who had questions because they know someone who might be interested in joining! ❤️
