This Is What’s Holding You Back

What if I told you that yes, definitely, there is something holding you back from your health and fitness goals?

And what if I told you that I know exactly what that is? You’d wanna know why I’ve been holding out on you, right?!

I’m going to be straightforward with you – it’s you.

We all self-sabotage from time to time, without even realizing it, especially when it comes to our fitness and nutrition. Here are three ways that you may be holding yourself back:

1. Excuses, excuses, excuses.

Ah, yes. Excused—also known as the ugly little lies we tell ourselves to make ourselves feel better. The little lies that help us avoid responsibility.

Trust me, the sooner you end your relationship with excuses and start owning your decisions, the sooner you’ll see the progress you want…in just about everything.

Remember that you always have a choice—you are in charge here, not anyone else.

2. But I’m way too busy.

Why is it that we think we are doing the world a favor by being as busy as we can possibly be? Who you foolin’? There is no award for being the person who said yes to everything, who’s barely slept, or who’s worked 80 hours a week for 12 weeks straight.

Let’s be honest. The truth is, sometimes it’s easier to take care of everything else so we don’t have to face our own needs. Being too busy is just…see #1.

If you feel like you’re too busy to take care of yourself, first examine how you are spending your time and then examine why.

3. I’m afraid I’ll actually do it and then what?

This is not something we can easily admit to, but at some point you have probably put off doing something awesome because you were literally afraid you might actually succeed.

Here’s a great example: You lose the weight. Boom! You look amazing! Everyone says so, and yikes! Now you’re the center of attention, and it feels like so much pressure to keep it off. What if that success you had was just a fluke? What if, what if, what if… Seems easier to just…not. Right?

Fear of success is real. So try facing your fears and come up with logical solutions for them. You’ll see that you can have success and it is great.

Any of these things sound familiar? They sure do for me—been there and done all of them.

But with a little practice, I learned to recognize them for exactly what they are—and I learned to conquer them.
