January Member of the Month: “I am sooo worth one hour of ME time”

Congratulations to our January Member of the Month, Julia! Here at Dragonfly, we’re inspired by how positive Julia has been despite some major setbacks this year. Coach Missy says Julia just keeps trucking, always modifying as needed to get the absolute most out of her workouts and consistently getting her sessions in at the studio while putting in the work at home, as well.

Dragonfly is thrilled to see that Julia has hit some of the goals she had when she started at DFT, like running the Turkey Trot and the Warrior Dash! We asked Julia a bit about her training routine, and this is what she had to say:

What’s your favorite exercise/equipment to use?

I really don’t have a favorite piece of equipment. If I had to choose, it would be the new boxes you just got in for box jumps. I amazed myself when I was actually able to jump up on them with both feet planted. And my favorite exercise is the knee-grab sit-up.

Most Memorable PR or fitness goal you are working toward?

My most memorable goal is the day I did a push-up on the bar instead of the wall. My next goal is a push-up on the floor.

Another great memory that was created by Coach Missy is when she kept checking in on me when I injured my leg … and how she keeps checking in with me to make sure I am doing okay with it.

What she did was keep me from giving up.

What would you say to other ladies who might be nervous to start?

I would say to others what I say to myself. Every goal starts with a little bug in your ear. This bug tells you to get off the couch, make the call, don’t let anyone or anything get in your way. Put yourself first. If you can dream it, you can do it. It is only one hour a day. And I am soooo worth one hour of ME time.

In the last year and a half, I have lost over 50 lbs and gone from a size 20 pants to size 14/16. I attribute my success to Dragonfly and my inner self.

For the first time in my life, I look forward to working out. Dragonfly is making it happen one work out at a time.

Extra: What’s your favorite type of music/specific songs to work out to?

Everyone will laugh at my music choices, because I am very sentimental. So when most are jamming to 70s and 80s and rock and roll, I am most happy listening to Barry Manilow, the Carpenters, and every musical soundtrack.
